September 2025
Welcome to the September edition of Block Talk, your go-to update for campus life, student success, and career opportunities.
This month, discover important updates including the new Grade Review Request Form. You’ll also see highlights from guest speakers in Sydney and Melbourne, plus campus favourites like Winter Warmer Week returning by popular demand.
We’re putting the spotlight on career readiness with our Job Readiness Workshop (already held in Sydney and coming up for Melbourne students in October) and an exciting free IT Bootcamp partnership with TechSkills Institute. You’ll also find support and wellbeing resources, including tips to avoid contract cheating, help with referencing, and details about the Study Melbourne Hub.
Most importantly, the 2025 Student Experience Survey (SES) is now OPEN! 🎉 If you've had an outstanding experience with us, this is your chance to make your voice heard and inspire others to join our institute. As a thank you, we’re giving away 100 x $50 visa vouchers each week to the first 100 students who complete the survey each week. Plus, every completed survey enters you into the national weekly prize draw for a $1,000 prepaid e-gift card run by QILT.
There’s plenty happening at AIH this block, read on to stay connected and make the most of every opportunity.

📝Introducing the Grade Review Request Form
We’ve made things clearer for you! The Assessment Request for Review form is now called the Grade Review Request form.
Use this form only after you’ve spoken with your lecturer about your grade and still believe it should be reconsidered. Remember, you must submit within 5 working days of receiving your result.
You may request a review if you believe that:
-
Learning outcomes in the unit material were unclear.
-
The assessment procedure outlined in the unit material was not followed.
-
There may have been errors in marking.
-
You received incorrect advice from teaching staff.
👉 You can find the Grade Review Request form on the Student Forms page in Moodle.
🎉 Meet Our Block Star: Samar Bastola (Block 5, 2025)
Selected by Ayasha Siddika, Lecturer in Business, Samar has been recognised for his outstanding effort and achievements.
👏 Congratulations, Samar!

“Samar is highly sincere and dedicated to his studies and duties. He achieved a strong grade considering the nature of the unit he studied, which is very abstract."
- Ayasha Siddika

Student Support & Wellbeing
🚫 Stay Smart, Stay Honest: The Risks of Contract Cheating
What is contract cheating? It’s when a student gets someone else to complete their assignments and then submits it as their own work. This could mean swapping papers with friends, downloading essays from “free” sites, or paying services to do your assignments (Source: Turnitin).
Why is it risky?
Engaging in contract cheating can have serious consequences:
❌Failing your unit or course.
❌ Losing your visa.
❌ Being blackmailed by cheating operators.
❌ Risking professional accreditation.
⚠️ Some companies even pose as “legit” businesses, then threaten to expose you to your institution or employers unless you keep paying them.
Where to get help:
🛑 Report illegal sites targeting students via TEQSA.
🔐 Protect your details – never share your AIH passwords.
👩🏫 Reach out to your lecturer if you’re struggling with an assessment.
📚 Our Academic Success Team: academicsuccess@aih.edu.au
💙 Our Wellbeing Officer: wellbeing@aih.edu.au
📝 Special Consideration: Submit a form if illness or unforeseen circumstances affect your studies.
Stay informed. Stay supported. And most importantly, stay honest in your learning journey!
